Fall Foliage In Texas Hill Country and Goofy Kids

I took the kids for some fresh air and a change of pace on Sunday as we made the annual trek to Lost Maples Nature Area, TX. It is one of the few places in Texas where you can see maple trees and fall leaf change.
The girls and I hiked around 2 miles through beautiful streams and rocky maple groves filled with fiery red and orange leaves. Aside from the 8,000 other people with the same idea, It was another fantastic year at the peak viewing weekend.

This may be my favorite of the day...
The kids were less than eager to take nice photos and took every opportunity to ham it up:

I did manage a few I'm pretty pleased with...

After exploring the trails we headed back home with a quick stop in Leaky, TX for a bite to eat. The great thing about the hill country is, you can always find good BBQ and home cooked meals. I was not prepared to take a picture of my less than healthy giant cheeseburger but I will have you know it was delicious.
What did you do this weekend?
Do you do yearly family pictures? Wanna see ours...
only slightly awkward...We will try again when Mr Dad is available.
